CAL - Coiler Welder
To enable strips to be fed continuously through the annealing line, the trailing edge of one coil is welded to the leading edge of the next. Weld quality is critical for a strong weld that will not fail.

Accurate temperature monitoring makes certain that the weld temperatures are within the correct limits, to ensure a secure weld. This significantly reduces the risk of the weld breaking further along the annealing line.

      We introduce how advances in accurate non-contact temperature measurements for continuous annealing (CAL) and galvanizing (CGL) lines ensure required metal characteristics and surface conditions are achieved in steel production. We will then focus on the SPOT GS, an advanced non-contact infrared spot pyrometer specifically designed for continuous, highly accurate measurements of coated steel strip temperature during the galvanneal reaction.
