Following zinc bath immersion, reheating of the coated steel causes the zinc to alloy into the steel substrate. The uncertain and rapidly changing emissivity at this location makes conventional thermometers very inaccurate.

The SPOT+ GS not only provides accurate temperature results, but also outputs the target emissivity, indicating the extent of the galvanneal reaction.
