Hydrogen is produced from the steam reforming process by heating hydrocarbons to generate hydrogen gas and carbon monoxide. Efficiency and plant condition depends on accurate temperature monitoring.

The key measurement point is at the primary syngas reformer. Accurate measurements can be difficult here because of process conditions. A non-contact solution is required that compensates for interference.
