THERMAL IMAGING OF BLACK LIQUOR RECOVERY BOILERS
The kraft process is the principal method used to produce pulp from wood chips. A key component is the black liquor recovery boiler which is designed to extract valuable chemicals and energy from black liquor produced during the pulping process. As black liquor is sprayed into the furnace of the recovery boiler, the organic components burn, generating intense heat which is utilised to produce high-pressure steam, which is then directed to drive turbines for electricity generation or to meet the thermal needs of the pulp and paper mill.
