Oven Outlet

In tempering processes, once the glass leaves the oven, it is rapidly cooled to introduce the surface stresses required for impact resistance. If it is to be bent or shaped, it must leave the oven at the right temperature. In either process, it is important to monitor the exit temperature.

Temperature uniformity is essential to further treatment of the glass. Precise monitoring across its width using a linescanner will confirm that the glass leaves the oven having been sufficiently heated, but glass coatings can make this difficult to measure accurately.

Viewing the glass from above using a linescanner, with a compact non-contact thermometer viewing from underneath, allows any surface coating to be compensated for. This produces a more accurate temperature measurement, to more closely monitor product quality.
