Bushing Outlet

The bushing plate is a small metal furnace containing nozzles for the fibre to be formed through. It is heated to keep glass at the correct temperature for fibre formation. Measurement at the outlet provides monitoring of the glass fibre quality to ensure a consistent product.

Fibres exit the bushing at high temperatures, requiring specialist non-contact measurement solutions. Ensuring the temperature is correct prevents nozzle clogging and damage, which is critical since bushings are the most expensive part of the fibreglass production process.

A precise temperature measurement of the fibre as it leaves the bushing outlet monitors the quality of the product, and protects the expensive bushing from damage caused by incorrectly heated fibre blocking the nozzle. It can also support optimisation of bushing heating.
