Distributors and Feeders

Distributors carry the molten glass from the tank furnace to the forehearth, while the feeder delivers glass gobs to the forming machine. Accurate measurements of temperature are essential to ensure consistent glass quality at these stages, and to make certain the glass continues to flow in a molten state.

Contact measurement devices such as thermocouples can be damaged by the extreme temperatures of the glass. A non-contact method of monitoring the heat is required to ensure reliability.

By monitoring the molten glass, a consistent product quality can be maintained. Measurements can also support the efficiency of the process by ensuring the correct viscosity for a uniform flow of glass through the feeders.
