Wood Chips on Conveyor

Conveyors are used for the transport of wood chips within a wood manufacturing process. Commonly, chips are conveyed from the drying stage to storage before shipping. Temperature monitoring provides an indication of how effective the drying process has been, supporting product quality.

There is also a risk that hot inclusions might find their way onto the conveyor, which could lead to combustion of the wood chips. Continuous monitoring of the conveyor safeguards against this by detecting the hot spots at an early stage.

Scanning the temperature across the belt confirms that woodchips have been heated sufficiently for effective drying. Should any hot spots exist on the conveyor, they will be rapidly detected, enabling rapid action to be taken to prevent fire outbreaks. This protects equipment from damage, and helps avoid expensive process stoppages.
