Rotary forging involves pressure being applied (for example by hammering) to heated metal. A chuck assembly rotates the metal between each application of hammering. If the metal cools below the required forging temperature, it must be removed and reheated before the process continues. This requires precise temperature measurements.
It is critical that once the metal’s temperature has dropped to a level where further forging is undesirable, it is reheated. Otherwise, the quality of the forged product is adversely affected. A non-contact measurement method is required because the rotation and hammering makes using contact devices impractical.
The
SPOT R100 provides accurate non-contact monitoring, alerting operators as soon as the metal temperature falls below desired levels. It also supports product quality, ensuring the metal has attained the desired strength and stability.
Recommended Product - SPOT R100.
The SPOT R100, Cyclops 100L, NIR-B and NIR-B-2K are the recommended for the reheat furnace.
