Sulphur Piles

Sulphur for industrial use is usually stored as a bulk solid in outdoor stockpiles. To prevent any hot spots which may spark a fire or explosion, thermal imaging is used. Outdoor stockpiles can be extremely large, so a solution with a versatile viewing range is required.

Thermal measurement solutions must be able to operate reliably outside. As the sulphur piles often present a large viewing target, the imager may also need to be located at some distance from the pile, requiring automation and remote operation.

By providing an accurate thermal image of the stored sulphur pile, any unsafe hotspots can be detected. Automated alarms can connect to process control systems for continuous safety monitoring.
