Biomass/Furnace Operation

The boiler is the heart of any biomass power plant, and presents opportunities and challenges to temperature monitoring. Biomass fuels present specific problems as they do not flow readily and are more likely to cause deposits on heat transfer surfaces. These are responsible for reduced efficiency and increased erosion. Thermal imaging can provide important information on the condition of fuel on the grate and contamination of refractory wall.
