AMETEK Land joins Glass Futures to Drive Standards and Technologies in the Glass Industry

Monday, April 11, 2022

AMETEK Land has become a member of Glass Futures, the Global Centre of Excellence for glass in research and development, innovation, and training.

With the aim of setting new standards in lower carbon glass products and processes, and a commitment to drive this throughout the global glass industry, AMETEK Land is working with Glass Futures and its members to make glass the low-carbon material of choice by providing and developing new innovative processes and technologies throughout the global supply chain.

NIR-B-GlassWith over 70 years of experience in supplying the glass industry with highly accurate temperature measurement solutions, AMETEK Land has developed a range of instruments specifically designed to meet the challenges of glass production.

AMETEK Land is working closely with Glass Futures and global glass manufacturers, using its highly accurate thermal imaging system (NIR-B-2K-Glass), for furnace monitoring and combustion optimisation to help achieve new standards in lower carbon glass products and processes.

The NIR-B-2K-Glass system has been specifically developed to return precise temperature measurements in glass furnace applications and support melt tank furnace control, campaign life asset production and extension, glass production efficiency and throughput and, importantly, energy efficiency and emissions reduction.

In collaborating with Glass Futures, AMETEK Land can support the sector's move towards a more sustainable, zero-carbon future by demonstrating what can be achieved when the industry, academia, partners, and funders work together.

AMETEK Land is working together with the Glass Futures community in their furnace and fuel mix tests to develop further ground-breaking temperature measurement and combustion optimisation products and technologies to benefit the industry, the end-user and the environment.

Philippe Kerbois, AMETEK Land's Global Industry Manager for Glass, said: "By joining Glass Futures, we're uniting with leading organisations, all with the same aim for the glass industry – to encourage new developments and technologies, in particular, to develop more sustainable processes. This will help to reduce our CO2 footprint in the coming years as part of our decarbonisation journey."

Aston Fuller, General Manager at Glass Futures said, “It’s a pleasure to welcome such a key supplier from the glass industry community into the collaboration; with such a high interest in digital technologies I am confident that both AMETEK Land and Glass Futures’ members will benefit highly from the opportunities afforded by our growing membership”.
